Ajay Devgn is having a remarkable 2024 with over five releases. While Shaitaan has crossed the Rs 140 crore mark, the actor has now shifted focus to his upcoming project Maidaan. Portraying Syed Abdul Rahim, he depicts the catalyst behind Indian football’s golden era from 1952 to 1962.
The film releases on the occasion of Eid, which now falls on April 11, earlier it was believed to happen on April 10th hence makers locked that date for the film’s release.But on Sunday, the makers of Maidaan decided to change the date on last the minute with film releasing on 11th April and paid premieres happening on 10th evening onwards
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the booking for the film has now opened up for over 2700 shows and has sold more than 6300 tickets, earning a total amount of Rs 14.94 lakhs till now. Over the past few days, it was announced that the film will also be released in IMAX format and it now has over 800 shows in the format.
Maidaan is clashing with Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which stars Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. And both are for now neck to neck as far as sales are concerned as Ali’s flm has till now sold nearly 4520 tickets amassing a total of Rs 14.40 lakhs. The difference between them is less than Rs 60,000 and it will be interesting to see how the two big ticket dramas cash in on the long holiday weekend.
