Ajay Devgn had a great start to 2024, as his first film Shaitaan becoming a money spinner, the film, in just about a month, has collected about Rs 144 crore from India itself. But it seems his second film of the year, the long delayed sports drama Maidaan, still has a lot of ground to cover as far as advance sales are concerned. The film is releasing on 11th April on the occasion of Eid with paid premieres tonight ( 10th April).
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has just managed to sell about 16300 tickets from over 4500 shows and collected just Rs 37.8 lakhs in total collections. The makers had organized an early screening for the media and the film has received a lot of accolades, and it was expected that the reviews would help in churning up the ticket sales but that has not happened. In comparison, the other Eid release Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has crossed Rs 1 crore mark in its advance sales selling over 42000 tickets.
In comparison to Ajay’s last release Shaitaan, it had an advance booking of Rs 4.14 crore selling over 1, 75,000 tickets and the film opened to a massive Rs 14.75 start. In Maidaan, Ajay plays Syed Abdul Rahim, the driving force behind Indian football’s golden era from 1952 to 1962.
