Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary today! The couple had tied the knot in a private ceremony on April 20, 2007. The wedding was hosted at the Bachchan bungalow in Mumbai with close family and friends in attendance.
Soon after the wedding, the newly wed couple headed to Tirupati temple to seek blessings.Pictures of Aishwarya Rai, sporting a mangalsutra and sindoor during the spiritual outing, were widely shared. However, what caught everyone’s attention was the unique mangalsutra of the actress, featuring three large solitaires. Aishwarya’s mangalsutra had a double layered chain too.
Interestingly, a few years later, Aishwarya modified the mangalsutra. Pictures document a single layer chain and shorter length, while the pendant remained the same. Reports suggest that Aishwarya tweaked her mangalsutra for a more simple and shorter design, after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan in 2011. Embracing motherhood duties, the actress reportedly wanted to opt for something minimalistic while not losing the essence of the original mangalsutra.
For her wedding, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore an exquisite gold Kanjeevaram saree designed by ace designer, Neeta Lulla. And she completed her bridal look with heavy floral hair accessories along with kundan neckpieces, matching jhumkas, matha patti and bajubandh. While Abhishek Bachchan complemented her in a beige and gold sherwani, accessorized with a statement emerald neckpiece.
