In a conversation with Galatta India, Arjun admitted that his performance in the short film was far from remarkable and that he is not very proud of it. He jokingly suggested that the film might have contributed to him receiving fewer opportunities from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions at one stage of his career.
When asked about his collaboration with Varun, Arjun revealed an interesting anecdote. Back then, the two were toying with the idea of launching a production house. According to Arjun, Varun tricked him into doing a seven-minute short film under the guise of giving him the lead role.
“Varun basically made a fool of me,” Arjun quipped. Varun had promised Arjun that he had completed the script, making him the hero. The ‘Baby John’ actor was the director, and the final edit blew Arjun’s mind. “I got to know that he was actually the hero and I was the villain in the film. He didn’t tell me all this, and I only found out after completing the shoot.”
Reflecting on Varun’s character in the film, Arjun continued with a laugh, “His dialogues are absolutely right—‘Vo dikhta hai innocent swaami type ka, but actually hai haraami type ka (He looks innocent, but is cunning).’”
Arjun also shared that this short film was shown to filmmaker Karan Johar by none other than Varun himself. The ‘Singham Again’ actor believes that the reason he did not get work from Karan is because of that short film.
Arjun encouraged viewers to check out the short film on YouTube but refrained from revealing its name, saying it is the only project where Varun can be seen wearing a T-shirt.
On the work front, Arjun Kapoor will be seen in ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ alongside Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar.
