Rohit Roy and John Abraham worked together in the movie Mumbai Saga, directed by Sanjay Gupta, who is a close friend of Rohit. In a recent interview, Rohit shared some fun memories with John and revealed how he brought a gym to the set to look bigger than John in the film.
In a chat with Cyrus on his podcast, Rohit explained that during shoots, he often spends 12-14 hours on set. To make the most of his time, he keeps a gym in his van, a practice he started during the Swabhiman days. While it’s not a full gym, one side of the van is converted into a makeup room, and the other side is equipped with everything he needs for a workout.
The actor also mentioned that in his last film, Mumbai Saga, while John didn’t bring a gym to the set since he had one at home, he would still manage to work out and be punctual. Rohit, on the other hand, worked out on set because he wanted to look bigger than John in the film and didn’t want anyone to think that John got the role just because of his friendship with Sanjay Gupta.
Rohit then shared a humorous moment, revealing that after shooting, John Abraham told Sanjay Gupta, “I would never say this, but this film is going to rely on Rohit’s triceps.” Rohit found it a bit of a backhanded compliment. He added that John is funny and hard to read, often mixing seriousness with humor. The two would also frequently discuss bikes, with Rohit praising John for being smart and witty.
The film, however, didn’t perform well, and many scenes, including those featuring Rohit Roy, were never shot due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recalling another memory from the Mumbai Saga shoot, Rohit shared that Sanjay Gupta, who also loves food, would often enjoy meals brought by actor Shaad Randhawa, who owns the restaurant Bayroute. They were shooting in South Mumbai at the time, and Shaad would bring delicious food, especially when John Abraham was invited for lunch. The spread included kebabs, hummus, and other excellent dishes.
However, John didn’t eat any of the food. Rohit noticed on the first day that John wasn’t eating, and the same happened the next day. Eventually, he realized that while John was feeding everyone, he wasn’t eating himself. John then reassured them, suggesting they skip carbs the next day to balance things out, giving them serious advice.
Rohit shared another common interest with John Abraham, saying they both love bikes. He mentioned that he owns six bikes and enjoys talking about them with John. Additionally, Rohit revealed that he personally cleans his bikes, just like John.
