Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have reached a settlement in their divorce! According to reports, the former power couple is asking a judge to finalize their breakup. Lopez filed documents on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court that show the former couple settled their divorce through mediation in September, about a month after she filed for divorce.
TMZ reports that both Affleck and Lopez will retain the assets they individually acquired during their marriage. While Ben will keep earnings from his movie projects and maintain full ownership of his production company, Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Matt Damon in 2022, Lopez will retain her earnings from her major projects like ‘The Mother’, ‘Shotgun Wedding’, and her music projects made during her marriage.
Most of the financial details of their split were not publicly filed, but it has been confirmed that neither star will pay the other ‘spousal support’. Lopez will also drop Affleck from her legal name once the divorce is finalized and revert to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
According to the new report, Lopez who filed for divorce in August 2024, exactly two years after their July 2022 wedding, the couple said in court filings that they were separated in April 2023, just 9 months after their grand wedding.
The couple also reached an agreement regarding their $61 million home, although the terms remain confidential. The property is currently on the market but has yet to find a buyer.
Despite not having a prenuptial agreement, records filed Monday show the pair resolved the financial aspects of their divorce through mediation and without long-drawn-out proceedings in court.
The legal split will reportedly be formalised on February 20, exactly six months after the filing.
Affleck and Lopez were first engaged in the early 2000s after meeting and starring together in 2003’s film ‘Gigli’ and 2004’s ‘Jersey Girl’. However, the couple parted ways days before their wedding, blaming intense media scrutiny. Their reunion two decades later followed by a quick wedding, became the talk of the town.
The couple have no children together.
This is Affleck’s second divorce after parting ways with Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, in 2018.
Lopez has been married four times and has twins with singer Marc Anthony.
