Ram Charan and Shankar’s Game Changer is all set to kickstart 2025 in a big way. As the first big-ticket film of the year, it is expected to set the tone for upcoming releases. In India, the film is anticipated to open at around Rs 25 crore—the biggest opening for a Ram Charan solo film.
However, in North America, which has recently become one of the biggest markets for Telugu films outside of India, the film is expected to face challenges due to delays caused by the producers leading to delay in delivering of the drives. Sources also reveal that the film, which was also slated to be the next IMAX release, will not be available in the circuit because of a delay in content conversion, leading to late uploads and failure to deliver the content on time. The Hindi and Tamil versions were uploaded just in the nick of time, ensuring shows in those languages. However, the delays have prompted AMC, one of the largest theater chains in the United States, to halt booking shows for the film.
As per initial trends, ticket sales for the film’s premiere shows in North America had crossed $850,000 and were on track to hit the $1 million mark. However, due to the current situation, total sales have dropped to $750,000. If the content reaches cinemas on time, the film might still manage to cross the $1 million mark.
Additionally, collections in the Los Angeles region may see a dip due to the ongoing wildfires causing disruptions.Game Changer is a political thriller featuring Ram Charan in a dual role, with one of his characters playing an IAS officer. The film also stars Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah in key roles.
