Kangana Ranaut, who is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Emergency’, recently appeared on the singing reality show Indian Idol. During the episode, she shared an emotional moment with judge Shreya Ghoshal, asking her to sing “Soniyo,” a song from her past.
In the viral clip, Kangana asked contestant Biswarup and judge Shreya Ghoshal to sing ‘Soniyo’, a romantic song from her 2009 film ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues‘. She remembered that Sonu Nigam sang the song in her film and requested Shreya to sing a few lines. Shreya happily agreed, saying, “Your request is my command,” and performed the song with Biswarup, making Kangana emotional.
Kangana spotted humming along, clearly moved by the performance. She expressed her appreciation with applause and a gesture of folding her hands in gratitude. The moment was captured on Instagram, captioned: “Kangana ki request par Biswarup aur Shreya ma’am gaayenge Soniyo”.
‘Soniyo’ is a popular romantic song from the supernatural thriller ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues’, directed by Mohit Suri. The music video features Kangana Ranaut with her then-boyfriend, Adhyayan Suman. They were in a short relationship from 2008 to 2009, which ended on a sour note.
Kangana is preparing for the release of ‘Emergency’, a film about the 21-month emergency imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977. She stars as Indira Gandhi, with Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan and Shreyas Talpade as a young Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The film will be released in theaters on January 17 and aims to portray a turbulent time in Indian politics.
