The ‘Panga’ actor revealed that amid all the disaccord with the audience, she has always been true to her art. “From the age of 15-16, whenever I left home, my whole life was dedicated to my work. Sometimes, I do feel bad that my personal life has suffered. There are so many delays in my life, as a woman, in various stages of a woman’s life because I’ve given everything to my career,” the actor stated.
She further continued, “Even now and then, when I’m with my family, it is like a segment that I could dedicate for some time. Although, when I sit with them, I cannot catch up with them. The topics, the talks, the internal jokes – I have to leave after giving them 45 minutes because I’m always in a bubble (of the character).”
The ‘Rangoon’ actor is not someone who would just read the lines and deliver instantly on the sets. She expressed her process of any character or role she has to play, she gets involved with the script deeply, costumes, and readings. “I have sacrificed many things with one single focus of my work. I feel that I should take it lightly, but if somebody thinks I’m authentic, it is true because I live and breathe the characters,” she added.
After getting into the political field, she revealed that her life had completely changed. As an actor, she was familiar with waving to the audience from afar, but in politics, she has to do the groundwork and connect with everybody. ‘Even wearing a pair of shades is a symbol of arrogance now’, she compared what was normal for an actor not the same for an MP.
“Over the years, I’ve grown in a certain lifestyle. Someone will help out with a costume, another with the food, and another with make-up and hair. However, parliamentary life differs. I can’t carry them to Delhi, they live in Maharashtra. Suddenly I’m on my own. Even the personal assistants are not allowed inside the walls.” the actor mentioned the differences in lifestyle.
While concluding, she appreciated the shift in the film industry, from when she began to now. The women-centric films, or the female roles with an actual underlined story, have increased in the circle more than in the past.
