Jaideep Ahlawat, known for his compelling performances in projects like Paatal Lok, Jaane Jan, Maharaj and many more, recently shared a heartwarming and humorous memory of his first day of working with the iconic Dharmendra on the sets of Ikkis. The film is being directed by Sriram Raghavan and also features Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
Recalling his first interaction with Dharmendra, Jaideep couldn’t help but describe the veteran actor as incredibly sweet, humble, funny, and brimming with charisma. “He had some of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard, his humour is amazing ,” Jaideep shared, reflecting on the charm that has endeared Dharmendra to audiences for decades.
He shared , “ On my first day, Sriram Sir introduced me to him, I touched his feet and he blessed me. My first scene with him involved me driving a car with Dharmendra ji seated beside him. It was a scene where I had to drive on a straight path and we had to drive the car back at the original mark if there were any retakes..toh woh thoda teeda meedha tha and I thought kaha assistant director ayega and we will have to get down again etc so I did it myself . And seeing me do it 2-3 times with his signature wit, he quipped, “ Puttar Hun tainu driving license mil sakda hai” (Son, now you’ll definitely get your driving license) that’s how funny the man is” .
Jaideep also recalled that Dharam ji – as he fondly referred to has really huge hands, he said “ I have fairly big hand but Sir has even bigger hands” . He is currently seen in Paatal Lok 2 and has projects like Jewel Thief, Hisaab, Rakht Bramand and many more lined up.
