Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Geet and Shahid Kapoor’s Aditya have remained fan-favorite characters ever since the release of the 2007 romantic classic Jab We Met. Recently, the conversation about where the iconic couple might be today took a humorous turn. In July 2024, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, when asked about the present-day scenario of Geet and Aditya during an event in Hyderabad, quipped, “At a divorce lawyer’s office.” His witty response left the audience in splits.
On Friday, Shahid Kapoor shared his thoughts on the matter during an event hosted by The Indian Express. Shahid was shown a clip of Imtiaz’s comment from the earlier event. Reacting with laughter, he said, “That’s actually a fun idea that Geet and Aditya are now breaking up because they are frustrated with each other. Aditya is like, ‘She is her own favourite, who can ever put up with her?’”
When told that his comments might break the hearts of Jab We Met fans, Shahid added with a chuckle, “If our filmmaker thinks these two will divorce each other, then who am I to come in between? I am just an actor.”
Jab We Met, which released on October 26, 2007, was made on a modest budget of Rs 15 crore but went on to earn over Rs 50 crore at the box office. Over the years, the film has achieved cult status, with Geet and Aditya becoming enduring symbols of love and individuality.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is preparing for his upcoming film Deva, where he will play a ruthless cop. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the action-packed movie also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubbra Sait. Deva is set to release in theatres on January 31.
