With just a week to go for the release of Nag Ashwin’s futuristic mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, things are getting exciting on all sides. The makers recently held a pre-release event in Mumbai for the film and unveiled a new trailer which will soon be released and this one will increase the tempo of the film by many folds. Kalki 2898 AD has been setting records since the time its advance booking opened in North America (United States of America and Canada) , the first screening of the movie in this circuit will take place on June 26.
Kalki 2898 AD already holds the record for being the fastest Indian film to cross the US $ 1 million mark in advance sales. And now the film is inching towards the record of Prabhas’ last film Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire for premiere day sales. One day before the premiere shows were about to begin Prashanth Neel’s directorial venture, Salaar, had minted about US $ 1.95 million and by the end of the show, the number had swelled up to US $ 2.5 million. At this point, the Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone film has crossed the US $ 1.8 million mark in the North American market. In the US alone, the film has sold nearly 54000 tickets amassing US $ 1.66 million.
And going by the buzz of the film, Kalki 2898 AD is all set to cross Salaar’s numbers in the next two days and probably even touch US $ 2.3 million mark a day before the release. At the recently concluded Mumbai event for the film, Amitabh Bachchan purchased the first ticket of the film from the producer C Aswani Dutt and presented it as a gift to his co-star and old friend Kamal Haasan.
