Actor Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir, who was last seen in Alia Bhatt’s starrer ‘Jigra’, recently shared an interesting story about the late actor Sunil Dutt and his thoughts on Amitabh Bachchan’s famous deep voice. Sheeba revealed that Dutt wasn’t a fan of Bachchan’s baritone and therefore gave him a silent role in the 1971 film ‘Reshma Aur Shera‘. She also mentioned that her father-in-law, Manmohan Sabir, had a similar approach to Big B‘s voice.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sheeba Akashdeep shared Manmohan Sabir’s words about Amitabh’s voice, stating that he found it strange and booming. “Ek hero aata tha humare ghar mein aur aake mere pairon mein baithta tha. Humko lagta tha kaisi se awaaz hai iske, gunjti hui” (A hero used to come to our house and sit at my feet. I used to find his voice strange; it was booming), she quoted him.

She further added that Sunil Dutt shared with her that they used to dislike his voice, calling it similar to that of a radio jockey. “They made him play a mute character in Dutt sahab’s movie. It’s the same baritone voice that we now associate with him. Nobody understood that the voice would become bigger than the actor himself.”
Last year, Amitabh Bachchan went to the Delhi High Court to stop people from misusing his unique voice. He filed a case to protect his name, voice, and image from being used without permission for promoting products or services. The court issued a temporary order, blocking anyone from violating the actor’s “publicity rights” as a celebrity.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently seen in the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Vettaiyan’.
