Prakash Raj recently recalled a challenging period in his life during an interview, recalling the tragic loss of his 5-year-old son, Sidhu, in 2004. He was married to Lalitha Kumari at the time, and the grief from this loss profoundly affected him, especially during the funeral. The actor shared how the experience consumed him and shaped his perspective on life.
At a recent ABP event, Prakash opened up about the profound pain of losing his son, Sidhu. He emphasised that while grief is deeply personal, he could not allow it to consume him or become selfish. With daughters and family to care for, he acknowledged the importance of finding reasons to live and celebrate life despite the inevitable nature of death. Raj reflected on how this loss affected him, stating, “It hurts me; it feels very helpless,” but he remains committed to cherishing life’s little joys.
Raj shared that he prefers not to dwell on his pain but instead focuses on his joys. He expressed a desire to share happiness rather than sorrow, as it helps ease his personal suffering. Acknowledging that some wounds run deeper than flesh, he emphasized the importance of living with such pain. Despite feeling disturbed and helpless at times, he encourages finding reasons to live, recognizing that death is always a part of life.
The actor was previously married to Lalitha Kumari, with whom he had three children: Meghana, Pooja, and Sidhu. The couple divorced in 2009 after facing personal tragedies, including the loss of their son Sidhu in 2004. In 2010, he married choreographer Pony Verma, and they welcomed a son named Vedhanth in 2015.
