Dwayne Johnson recently addressed some interesting claims about his behavior on the set of his upcoming movie, ‘Red One’. Earlier this year, a report claimed that Johnson was often late to set and even used water bottles as makeshift bathrooms to save time. In a new interview, Johnson confirmed parts of the report but clarified that the claims were a bit exaggerated.
Back in April, The Wrap reported frustrations among the ‘Red One’ team over Johnson’s supposed “unprofessional” behavior, which they said drove production costs up by $50 million. Addressing this, Johnson called the cost increase “crazy” and “ridiculous,” insisting it was not nearly as high as reported. He labeled the controversy as “bullshit” in his interview. Discussing the matter further in the GQ interview, Johnson said, “Yeah, that happens. But not that amount, by the way. That was a banana amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.”
‘Red One’ director Jake Kasdan also spoke up, saying Johnson never missed a workday and treated everyone on set with respect. While Kasdan acknowledged that Johnson was occasionally late, he noted that such delays are normal in Hollywood. Kasdan praised Johnson’s positive impact on the team, stating, “Honestly, I’ve made three big movies with him. I’ve never seen him be anything but great to every single person on the set.”

Johnson’s co-star, Chris Evans, also had supportive words. The ‘Captain America’ actor explained that Johnson’s slight delays are planned and accounted for in the schedule, so no one is left waiting unexpectedly. Evans shared, “I wouldn’t even call it late…he shows up when he’s scheduled to show up.”
Regarding the rumors about urinating in water bottles, Johnson confirmed this habit. He explained it as a practical solution during busy shooting days.
Meanwhile, ‘Red One’ will be released on November 15. Johnson will also appear in ‘Moana 2‘.
