Grief and sorrow have hit the Carrey family as a beloved part of their life is no more. In a tragic turn of events, it has come out that Hollywood actor Jim Carrey’s sister Rita Carrey has passed away.
Rita Carrey breathed her last at the age of 68. She left the mortal world on November 14, 2024, and the news was confirmed by Rita’s husband Alex on her Facebook page with a heartfelt tribute.
“Rita was my bestest friend, my lover and my beautiful wife. Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone even total strangers,” wrote Alex, who married Rita last year after a courtship period of 16 years.
Further in his tribute he wrote, “As everyone knows Christmas was Rita’s favourite holiday actually it was everyday for her and she started a fundraiser to help a local charity . It’s been a wonderful and crazy journey with Rita. She filled everyone’s heart with joy with every step she took and I will never forget this beautiful and amazingly talented woman. Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. Until we meet again. You really did have the Time of your life,” he wrote, signing off as, “Your bestest friend and husband Alex”.
As of now the cause of demise hasn’t been unveiled by the family.
Reportedly, Rita had a career in music and media. She was born to Kathleen and Percy Carrey. She had two brothers, Jim and John, the latter passed away in 2019 from a blood condition called aplastic anemia at age 60. She also has an older sister named Patricia.
