Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar set an example for civic duty as he cast his vote in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 on Wednesday morning. The superstar was spotted at a polling station in Mumbai, lining up among the early voters.
The voting commenced around 7 AM. The star was seen looking sharp in a black shirt paired with beige trousers paired with white sneakers as he made his way to the polling booth and wishing the cameramen ‘Good Morning’.
After casting his vote, the actor proudly showed off his inked finger to the cameras.
Speaking to the media after voting, Akshay praised the measures that help enable all citizens to vote. He said, “The arrangements here are very good as I can see that arrangements for senior citizens are very good and cleanliness has been maintained.” He also stressed the importance of participating in the democratic process, saying, “It’s important that everyone comes out and casts their vote.”
A video doing the rounds also sees the star chatting with a local and discussing civic issues.
The actor has been in the news these past days, after he opened up to ANI about his decision to renounce his Canadian citizenship. Akshay shared, “I never thought that people would catch a travel document. For me, it was just a travel document. I pay my taxes here. I am the highest taxpayer. I have been here and I haven’t even been there (Canada) in the last 8-9 years.”
“Let’s face the facts. It’s not about the passport. It’s your mind, heart and soul that has to be Indian,” he added.
On the acting front, Akshay was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again” starring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff and Arjun Kapoor.
Akshay will be next seen in ‘Jolly LLB 3’ and ‘Housefull 5’. There are also reports of him starring in the second part of ‘Bhagam Bhag’.
