Twinkle Khanna recently went to study again and moved to UK for two years. The actress did her Masters in fiction writing from Goldsmiths, University Of London. Twinkle who has turned writer recently spoke about this decision in an interview. She said that while her family and husband Akshay Kumar were extremely supportive of her decision, she would have taken this step even if her husband was not okay with it.
She said during a chat with with FICCI FLO, “I grew up in a family which was not the conventional family so the whole system and the hierarchy of asking people for permission never existed. There was no one to ask permission from.” Thus, Twinkle would have happily gone to the UK, even if Akshay was not okay with it. The actress admitted that even if there would have been fights or screaming, shouting, she would have still done this.
The actress-turned-author further said, “I was very lucky that my family supported me that my husband was fine with the fact that I am moving countries and taking my younger one but even if he would not have been fine, I would have still done it but it would have been very difficult and traumatic. There would be a lot of yelling and screaming but he was okay with it.”
However, Akshay was a complete green flag as a supportive husband. Infact, after Twinkle’s graduation, he dropped a picture and expressed that he’s proud. He wrote, “Two years ago when you told me you wanted to take up studies all over again, I wondered if you meant it. But the day I saw you work so hard and perfectly manage a full-fledged student life along with home, career, me and kids, I knew I had married a super woman. Today on your graduation, I also wish I had studied a bit more to know enough words to tell you how proud you make me, Tina. Congratulations and all my love. ♥️”.
Twinke and Akshay got married in Januart 2001 and have two children – Aarav and Nitara.
