The much-anticipated Ram Charan starrer Game Changer witnessed a disappointing start to its debut weekend. The film witnessed a significant decline in box office collections over its opening weekend, failing to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. While the film started strong at the box office, Day 3 witnessed a sharp decline in numbers, pushing collections below the Rs 20 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Game Changer Movie Review
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 17 crore net at the domestic markets on Sunday across all languages. The film opened to a strong Rs 51 crore, showcasing Charan’s star power and audience anticipation. However, collections dropped significantly to Rs 21.6 crore on Day 2. The decline continued, with the film earning just Rs 17 crore, pushing its total domestic collection to around Rs 89.6 crore net for the debut weekend.
The report states that the movie made an estimated Rs 8 crore for its Telugu version and an estimated Rs 7.7 crore for its Hindi dubbed movie. The Tamil version came in third with an estimated Rs 1.2 crore, followed by the Kannada version which earned just around Rs 10 lakh.
The Hindi dubbed version managed to rake in an estiamted total of Rs 22.5 crore. This is second to only the Telugu version which earned an estimated total of Rs 61.75 crore. The Tamil version currently occupies the third spot with a total collection of Rs 5.02 crore while the Malayalam and Kannada versions eanred around Rs 30 lakh each.
Despite a promising start, the steep decline over the weekend has mirrored the mixed audience response to the film and the stiff competition at the box office with films like ‘Fateh’ and ‘Pushpa’ taking up a sizeable collection. The Telugu version remained the film’s strongest performer, while the dubbed versions underperformed.
With no major releases, the film has an opportunity to amp up its collections. All eyes will be turned to the box office to see how well the film manages to hold on to the box office on its first Monday.
Directed by S. Shankar, ‘Game Changer’ also star Kiara Advani, S. J. Suryah, Nassar, Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, and Murali Sharma in key roles.
