Sonu Sood is not only one of the finest actors in the industry but also a kind and large-hearted human being, a side of him the country witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic. After being a constant presence in South and Bollywood cinema, the actor decided to add another feather to his cap by stepping into production and direction, making his debut as a filmmaker with Fateh.
Saif Ali Khan Health Update
Given his penchant for action and his impressive physique, Sonu planned Fateh as a high-octane emotional action thriller. He roped in world-renowned international talent, including Vincenzo Condorelli behind the camera, Federico Berte, and Filip Ciprian Florian for action choreography, as well as a music team featuring Hans Zimmer and John Stewart Eduri for the background score.
While many appreciated Sonu’s effort as a filmmaker, the film failed to connect with the audience. The disconnect was evident from the first day itself, as it earned only ₹2.4 crore, despite ticket prices being set at ₹99. Over the weekend, the film earned ₹2.1 crore and ₹2.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, the collections fell to ₹95 lakh on Monday but picked up slightly on Tuesday, coinciding with the occasion of Makar Sankranti, to earn ₹1.5 crore. On Wednesday, the collection dipped again to ₹1.15 crore and further dropped to ₹77 lakh on Thursday, according to Sacnilk.
This took the first-week collection of the film to ₹11.12 crore. Fateh also became part of the “January curse,” where the first release of the year often underperforms at the box office. The other major release on the same day, Game Changer starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, faced a similar fate. Despite earning ₹117 crore in its first week, the film struggled due to its massive ₹300 crore budget.
Sonu Sood will reportedly be seen next in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film Jewel Thief, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat.
