Akshay Kumar’s latest release, Sky Force, has taken off to a strong start at the box office, with advance bookings crossing the Rs 5 crore mark ahead of its big screen debut today.
The film, which chronicles India’s first airstrike during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, has struck a chord with audiences eager to witness this historic tale unfold on the big screen. According to Sacnilk.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 3.63 crore from 2D Hindi shows and an additional Rs 14 lakh from IMAX 2D screenings. With approximately 160,740 tickets sold in advance bookings, the overall Day 1 collection is projected at Rs 3.77 crore. Factoring in blocked seats, the total could rise to Rs 5.42 crore.
Set against the backdrop of one of India’s defining military moments, Sky Force follows the story of Wing Commander K.O. Ahuja, played by Akshay, and T. Vijaya, portrayed by debutant Veer Pahariya. The film celebrates the bravery of the Indian Air Force during the war that not only changed its course, but also cemented its place in history.The film also features Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and Sharad Kelkar in significant roles. According to reports, Sky Force combines high-octane action with a tribute to the courage and honor of Indian airmen.
Ahead of the release, Akshay shared his excitement on Instagram, posting a picture of himself in his character as a decorated Air Force officer. “I’ve been a part of over 150 films, but there’s something uniquely powerful about the words ‘based on a true story.’ And stepping into the uniform of an Air Force officer has been nothing short of incredible,” he wrote.
He further encouraged fans to witness the untold story on the big screen, adding, “Sky Force is an untold story of honour, courage, and patriotism that deserves to be shared. Watch it in cinemas starting tomorrow.”
With its compelling narrative, positive reviews and good buzz, Sky Force is expected to soar even higher in the coming days. The film is also expected to receive a big boost during the first week of its release.
