Actress Regina Cassandra started her career in 2005 with a supporting role in the Tamil film ‘Kanda Naal Mudhal’. She gained recognition with her Telugu debut ‘Siva Manasulo Sruthi’ in 2012. She has worked in several Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films, making her a well-known name among South Indian audiences. Recently, Regina spoke about her experiences as a South Indian actress entering Bollywood.
In an interview with News18, Regina was asked about Bollywood’s reception of South Indian actors. She responded, “Now, they don’t have a choice. Before… pretty snooty. If they knew that you were from the South. Mainly, I don’t know if it was because language was a barrier. But for me, it never was. I don’t look like a South Indian. I don’t know if all of these things worked in my favour. But I think now it’s just become, like, they need people from the South, especially after the pandemic hit. They needed actors from the South for a bigger audience.”
Regina is currently gearing up for the release of Ajith Kumar’s ‘Vidaamuyarchi’, and she will also star in the upcoming film ‘Jaat’ alongside Bollywood actor Sunny Deol. Sharing her thoughts on the project, Regina said that Gopichand Malineni is directing Jaat, making it a Telugu director working on a Hindi canvas once again. She described it as an out-and-out commercial film with unmissable action sequences. She is also committed to another Hindi movie.
‘Vidaamuyarchi’ is set to hit theatres on February 6 and also features Trisha Krishnan in a key role.
