AI-generated deepfake videos are becoming more common and often look very real. Recently, R Madhavan was tricked by one such video where Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to praise Virat Kohli. He even sent it to Anushka Sharma before realizing it was fake.
In an interview with Zee TV ME, R Madhavan was asked if AI had ever fooled him. He recalled seeing a video of Ronaldo highly praising Virat Kohli, calling him a legend and expressing how much he enjoyed watching him bat.
Excited about the video, R. Madhavan proudly sent it to Anushka Sharma. However, she replied, pointing out that it was AI-generated. Only after noticing the subtle flaws she mentioned did he realise it was fake.
Madhavan admitted feeling embarrassed about the incident and emphasized the need to be extra careful when sharing information.
He said that even he, despite being aware, was completely fooled. When Anushka Sharma pointed out the flaws, he realized the issue. He emphasized the importance of verifying information before forwarding it.
Meanwhile, the actor is busy with his upcoming Tamil sports drama Test, which he has also directed. The film reunites him with Rang De Basanti co-star Siddharth and actress Nayanthara. Focusing on cricket and personal struggles, the drama will soon release on Netflix.
Madhavan will also star in the Netflix rom-com Aap Jaisa Koi alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film follows two unique individuals, Shrirenu Tripathi (Madhavan), a Sanskrit teacher, and Madhu Bose (Fatima), a French professor. The teaser hints at a heartwarming romantic drama.
