As one of the creative minds behind some of Marvel’s most iconic films, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier to Black Panther, Nate Moore has played a pivotal role in shaping this cinematic universe realm as we know it. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, he dives into what ‘Brave New World’ means for Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the pressure of making billion-dollar blockbusters that live up to the legacy of its predecessors, bringing Hollywood icon Harrison Ford into the Marvel fold, the return of the Eternals, and so much more…
‘Brave New World’, the latest instalment in the MCU, serves as both a standalone and a continuation of Sam Wilson’s journey after he was first introduced in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014), opposite Chris Evans‘ Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier and Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow. Moore, who is no stranger to the box office number game, acknowledged the pressure that comes with such big-budget projects saying, “Films of this size can be daunting, but as long as your focus is always on the character story, you have a good, true North Star.”Moore also shared his insights into Anthony Mackie’s evolution as Sam Wilson and emphasized the importance of his character fully embracing the Captain America mantle after a decade in the MCU. “I think he’s worthy. I think he’s earned it. And I think fans coming out of this movie are going to feel the same way I do.”
While Moore has several billion-dollar blockbusters to his credit, he has also faced setbacks, one of the most notable being Eternals. Four years after its theatrical release, Captain America: Brave New World will be the first film to address the lingering questions from Eternals, particularly the mysterious celestial mass that emerged from Earth.
When asked if the Chloe Zhao directorial will finally receive its due recognition, Moore hinted at a possible return of the race of superhumans. He teased, “Eternals is obviously a property I love. I love that film and all of those actors and the crew that helped us make it. We’re always looking for an opportunity to figure out how to reintroduce characters. In the same way, Tim Blake Nelson is back after over 15 years. I’m not sure you’ve seen the last of the Eternals. I couldn’t tell you exactly when they’ll pop up, but certainly, we haven’t forgotten about them and we are huge fans of that film.”
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World features a stellar ensemble cast, including Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson. The film releases on February 14, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
