As the controversy surrounding YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and his offensive remarks on stand-up comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent continues to escalate, social media users have turned their attention to his parents.
Reports suggest that Ranveer’s father, Gautam Allahbadia, is a globally recognized expert in the field of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). His official website refers to him as “The Miracle Man” and credits him with pioneering India’s first trans-ethnic surrogate pregnancy and the first same-sex couple pregnancy.
Gautam Allahbadia comes from a family of doctors, but he initially aspired to pursue a career in art. According to his website, he started his journey in the medical field by converting the garage of his building into a small clinic and laboratory where he conducted semen processing. Over time, he established an IVF center, authored several papers and books, and received numerous accolades for his contributions to reproductive medicine.
Reflecting on his early struggles, Allahbadia shared on his website: “In 1996, when I opened my sperm bank, my parents were totally against it. I had no support. When I started my IVF center and took a bank loan, they opposed that too. People used to criticize and look down on me because I collected sperm samples. However, in recent years, societal perspectives have shifted drastically.”
He further noted, “Today, even single Indian women seek IVF treatments, and gay couples come in for surrogacy without any stigma. Under Indian law, it is the only LGBT-friendly fertility clinic in the country.” Allahbadia also revealed that the Indian government has enlisted him as an expert to help draft national guidelines on assisted reproduction, which are expected to become law soon.
Meanwhile, reports from BollywoodShaadis.com indicate that Ranveer’s mother, Swati Allahbadia, is a gynecologist.
Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, is under fire for an inappropriate question on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. His remark went viral, drawing backlash from netizens and political figures.
On an episode featuring Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija, Ranveer asked a contestant:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
The remark sparked outrage, with many criticizing it as vulgar and questioning digital content standards in India. While some defended the show’s edgy format, others called it unethical.
Following severe backlash, Ranveer apologized on X (formerly Twitter), admitting his mistake:
“Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. I had a lapse in judgment. This podcast is watched by all ages, and I don’t take that lightly. I have asked the makers to remove the insensitive sections. I hope you can forgive me….”
Facing multiple FIRs across states, Ranveer has moved the Supreme Court, seeking protection from legal action and requesting consolidation of cases. His lawyer, Abhinav Chandrachud, argues against coercive measures, especially by Guwahati police.
As legal battles loom, the controversy raises broader concerns about digital influencers’ responsibilities and ethical boundaries in content creation.
