Jennifer Lopez has seemingly addressed her split from Ben Affleck in her latest social media post, setting the internet abuzz. The global pop icon took to Instagram to share a clip of her sensual performance, just hours after reports surfaced declaring her “officially single” on Friday, February 21.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge approved Ben and JLo’s divorce settlement on January 6, and declared that it would take effect on February 21, after California’s required six months passed since Lopez filed to dissolve their two-year-old marriage. The document said they settled through mediation in September, avoiding the kind of drawn-out court fight that other celebrity couples have gone through.
Shortly after news broke, the singer took to her handle to share the clip that sees her commanding the stage with a fiery performance of her song Louboutins. Known for its empowering lyrics on love and relationships, the clip captures her singing the bridge: “Watch me walk it out, walk it out, walk it out/ Walk this right up out the house/ Walk it out, boy, watch me walk it out/ Uh, walk it out, walk this right up out the house.”
Fans were quick to interpret the lyrics as a not-so-subtle nod to her split from Affleck, fueling speculation that Lopez is embracing her newfound independence.
Lopez now drops the Affleck from her legal name. Most of the financial details were kept private, but neither star will pay the other spousal support, and they have no children together so custody is not an issue.
The superstar pairing married in July 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. The filing said they had separated more than a year earlier.
It was their second stint as a couple. In the early 2000s, they met, fell in love, got engaged and starred together in the infamous “Gigli” and “Jersey Girl” in 2004. They split up that same year, blaming in part the pressure of the public eye.
This is Lopez’s fourth failed marriage. She shares twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck, on the other hand, was previously married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children. The couple parted ways in 2018.
