In January, actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his residence, an incident that sent shockwaves across the country. While his family was focused on taking care of him—ensuring he was admitted to the hospital, where his surgery lasted for hours—the police were simultaneously working to apprehend the culprit.
Now, his brother-in-law, Kunal Kemmu, has opened up about how he received the news of the attack while speaking on a podcast with Smita Prakash. In the promo released so far, when asked where he was when he first heard about the attack, Kunal responded that his immediate thought was, Is Saif okay?
He also revealed that he received the information about the attack at 6 in the morning and that he was the one who had to break the news to his wife and Saif Ali Khan’s sister, Soha Ali Khan. At the time, the couple was in the midst of getting their daughter ready for school. He added that, at that moment, he had no details beyond the fact that an attack had taken place. He also shared that he was gripped with fear, contemplating whether or not he should send his daughter to school.
Kunal further emphasized that it’s not that the city is unsafe, but incidents like these do happen occasionally. He stated, All we have to do is be careful. However, he also added that one cannot claim the city is entirely safe, where one could lie down on the streets wearing jewelry and expect nothing to happen. Instead, he stressed the importance of taking necessary precautions for one’s safety.
On the professional front, Kunal recently made his directorial debut with Madgaon Express, starring Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu Sharma, and Avinash Tiwary. The film turned out to be a sleeper success at the box office, running in theaters for nearly 50 days.
