‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh continues to show slow business. When the movie was released on Friday, February 21st, its opening day collection wasn’t impressive. Various reports stated that the movie was expected to make more as per the trade analysts, but it minted only Rs. 1.3 crore. After a 5 day run at the box office, the film has been able to mint only Rs. 5.55 crore.
The film opened to mixed reactions, and its day 1 collection stood at ₹1.3 crore, according to a Sacnilk report. Following the opening day, on Saturday, the movie minted ₹1.7 crore, which was more than a 13 percent rise. However, with a drop of 26.47 percent, the movie made ₹1.25 crore on Sunday. The weekdays showed no mercy either. On Monday, the movie recorded Rs. 0.6 crore and Rs. 0.5 crore (early estimate) on Tuesday.
‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ is facing tough competition from ‘Chhaava.’ Though the rom-com was released a week after the Vicky Kaushal starrer made it to the big screen, ‘Chhaava’ continues to rule the box office. The movie has already crossed Rs.350 crore mark in India.
Director Mudassar Aziz, who helmed ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ addressed this clash with ‘Chhaava’ “Sir, ‘Mera paigham mohabbat hai, jahan tak pahunche!’ What the film does in the presence or absence of Chhaava isn’t in my control. Putting my best foot forward to entertain people is the only thing that is in my control. I will always appeal to my families, my women audience, my humour lovers, and leave the rest to the Almighty,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
