Shah Rukh Khan, one of the most celebrated icons of Indian cinema, is set to temporarily shift from his iconic residence, Mannat, to a luxury apartment in Pali Hill, Bandra. The move comes as the actor and his family prepare for extensive renovation and expansion work on their sea-facing Grade III heritage home, which has long been a landmark for fans visiting Mumbai.
Mannat, which Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan acquired in 2001, is more than just a residence—it symbolizes their shared dream of building a home that reflects their aspirations and success. Over the years, Gauri, an accomplished interior designer, has meticulously transformed the space into a lavish and aesthetically curated abode. In November last year, she sought permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add two additional floors to the Mannat annexe, further elevating the grandeur of their family home.
The expansion is expected to take nearly two years, during which the Khans will relocate to Pali Hill. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, has entered into a leave and license agreement with film producer Vashu Bhagnani’s children, actor Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh, for four floors in the luxury residential complex Puja Casa. While the space may not match the sheer expanse of Mannat, it has been carefully chosen to accommodate the family’s needs, including Shah Rukh’s security and staff. The monthly rent for the property is reportedly ₹24 lakh.
On the work front, SRK’s most eagerly awaited project is ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. Shah Rukh Khan and Anand are thrilled with how the film has shaped up and are preparing to begin shooting in March 2025. The ambitious project is slated for a six to seven month shooting schedule, covering multiple international locations. The filmmakers are dedicated to delivering a cinematic spectacle, with a theatrical release planned for 2026. Adding to the excitement, King will see SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan joining dad on the big screen for the first time, further elevating expectations from both audiences and the industry.
As the renovations progress, Mannat will continue to be a site of interest for the thousands of fans who gather outside its iconic gates daily. For now, their glimpses of the superstar may be limited to his temporary residence in Pali Hill. However, once the expansion is complete, Mannat is expected to emerge as an even more magnificent structure—one that truly encapsulates Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s vision of a dream home.
With an exciting slate of films and the grand transformation of his iconic residence, 2025 promises to be a landmark year for Shah Rukh Khan, both personally and professionally.
