Neil Nitin Mukesh recently opened up about his initial rivalry with Katrina Kaif during the filming of ‘New York’, a movie that remains one of the highlights of his career. Despite the on-screen chemistry between Neil, John Abraham, and Katrina being well-received by fans, Neil shared that things weren’t as smooth behind the scenes.
In an interview with On Public Demand, Neil recalled his first encounter with Katrina during the filming of ‘New York’. He recalled that they didn’t get off to a good start, becoming adversaries from the very beginning. During their first scene together, they constantly clashed, with Katrina frequently interrupting him. Neil repeatedly asked what the issue was, sensing that something was amiss.
The actor further explained that he found out Katrina Kaif had issues with his complexion and how he portrayed his character in ‘New York’. This led to her teasing him, which made him angry, particularly since he had just come from working on the intense film ‘Johnny Gaddaar‘.
He mentioned that he had studied acting and was confident in his language skills, yet he was putting in his best effort. Recognizing that Katrina was a bigger star, he wondered what he could do to make things work better.
Neil shared that one day, Katrina scolded him after he completed a shot. Feeling misunderstood, he decided to confront her. During their conversation, Katrina revealed that she wasn’t angry with him but was nervous, as she had primarily worked on comedy films before ‘New York’.
