Neil Nitin Mukesh, despite his strong Bollywood lineage and impressive debut in Johnny Gaddaar (2007), has struggled to maintain a steady career. In a recent interview, he hinted that his fair complexion has limited his opportunities, questioning why actors like Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan can undergo skin darkening for roles while he remains overlooked.
Neil recently shared that he has often been overlooked in Bollywood due to his appearance. Speaking on Hindi Rush, he acknowledged his uniqueness but emphasized that it doesn’t mean he can’t portray a common man. Citing Johnny Gaddaar and Jail, he highlighted his past roles fitting this mold.
The actor also highlighted how actors like Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan have been accepted in roles requiring brownfacing. He stressed that with advanced makeup and technology, appearances can be altered, but talent should be the focus. He urged filmmakers to recognize his acting skills and offer him opportunities.
Neil further emphasized that he sees himself as a common man and recently played a banker in Hisaab Barabar. He questioned why he isn’t considered for diverse roles, citing Saif Ali Khan’s Omkara and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 as examples of actors breaking stereotypes while he continues to struggle for opportunities.
