Early this morning, two unidentified gunmen opened fire outside the Bandra residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police confirmed in an official statement.
According to the latest update on Times Now, the police have deployed at least 15 units in a huge search operation to nab the two assailants who fleed the site on a motorbike. Police initiated an investigation into the incident and have been actively working to locate and arrest the individuals responsible for the shooting.
Reports state that two unidentified individuals arrived outside the actor’s house on a motorcycle at around 5 am and opened fire near Khan’s Bandra residence.Of the rounds fired, one bullet hit the actor’s building wall, while another reportedly hit the gate.
Salman and his family were in the house at the house when the firing took place. According to sources, the weapon employed in the shooting was identified as a 7.6-bore gun. The two individuals suspected of performing the shooting are allegedly associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, however, a confirmation on the same is still awaited.
Furthermore, police analysis suggests that both suspects stand at approximately 5.8 feet tall.
All CCTV cameras outside Khan’s residence, capturing the accused on their motorcycle, have had their DVRs seized by the police. They fired a total of four bullets, with one live round found, possibly dropped during the weapon’s locking mechanism.
In a statement last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) disclosed that Khan ranked as the top target among 10 individuals that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi aimed to eliminate. The gangster cited Khan’s 1998 black buck hunting incident as the reason, considering it offensive to the Bishnoi community.
Following a threat call made on April 11 last year, Mumbai Police upgraded Khan’s security status to Y+.
