It is a golden period for Rajkummar Rao, as he released two movies in the month of May, and both are being loved by the audience and the critics. His recent release ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, his first with Karan Johar’s production house and second with Janhvi Kapoor has already made Rs 21 crore in just 5 days, while his film Srikanth which released on 10th May, is still entertaining the audience despite being in its fourth week.
‘Srikanth’ which is based on the life of visually impaired MIT graduate businessman Srikanth Bolla, in the first three weeks earned about Rs 40.4 crore, and in its fourth week it is all set to cross the Rs 45 crore mark. In the fourth week, the film began its journey on a good note where it earned Rs 1.4 crore on Friday, Rs 1.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.3 on Sunday. But, as it entered the weekdays, the film crashed massively as on Monday, it earned only Rs 35 lakhs which was a nearly 75 % drop, and on Tuesday also the film managed to earn the similar amount as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the total collection of the film to Rs 44.95 crore. The trade is expecting the film to cross the Rs 50 crore mark and given that the next film is arriving only on 14th June which is Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion, the chances Srikanth reaching the Rs 50 crore mark is very much possible.
In addition to these two films, Rajkummar Rao is set to star in ‘Stree 2’ alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, a sequel to his 2018 hit ‘Stree’. He will also feature in ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ with Triptii Dimri. Furthermore, there are rumors of Rajkummar turning producer, with his first project starring Sonakshi Sinha. Currently, Rajkummar is busy shooting his upcoming film ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ in Varanasi with Wamiqa Gabbi.
