His presence would make him one of the most prominent figures at the highly anticipated event.Meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has already arrived in Mumbai for the wedding.
While departing for Mumbai, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee told PTI at Kolkata airport, “I might not have gone to attend Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding, but the entire family, from Nita ji to Mukesh ji, has been repeatedly requesting me to attend, so I am going.” Banerjee also mentioned she will meet NCP president Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Uddhav Thackeray.

According to a report by ABP News, on July 4, 2024, Mukesh Ambani personally visited Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath to invite her and Rahul Gandhi to the wedding. However, Rahul was unlikely to attend from the beginning, having repeatedly criticized the Ambanis during his recent election campaign.
Contrary to expectations, Sonia Gandhi’s family has maintained close ties with the Ambanis since the days of Dhirubhai Ambani. Sonia Gandhi is reportedly expected to extend her wishes to the couple soon after their wedding. The portal revealed that no one else from the Gandhi family will attend or comment on the Ambani wedding.
Other prominent political figures likely to attend the wedding include Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, the Thackeray family, and Devendra Fadnavis, all of whom have been personally invited by the Ambanis.
