Stree 2 is the sequel to the loved ‘Stree’ which released in 2018. This sequel and highly awaited horror comedy is clashing with two other big movies today – ‘Vedaa’ and Khel Khel Mein’, but has garnered more buzz than the rest of the two. It probably has to do with the first part of the movie being so successful. ‘Stree 2’ stars Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurrana. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film was set in town of Chanderi where a spirit kidnaps men. ‘Stree 2’ takes forward the story from where the previous one left. The line used in the film, ‘O Stree Kal Aana’ became largely popular and by the end of it, the movie also had a social message apart from elements of horror and comedy. Hence, the buzz around ‘Stree 2’ has been high, ever since the film was announced. The early reviews and whole excitement around the movie is quite good as the advance bookings have also been largely encouraging.
‘Stree 2’ is a part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe which had ‘Stree’, ‘Bhediya’, the recently released ‘Munjya’ which also did exceptionally well at the box office.
On the other hand, it clashes with movies of two different genres which are also releasing today. ‘Vedaa’ is about breaking several stereotypes, in a hard-hitting action drama, thus sending out a strong message as it speaks about social hierarchy and caste discrimination. It stars Sharvari Wagh and John Abraham. Meanwhile, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ is a comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal. The film is a Hindi remake of ‘Perfect Strangers’.
At the moment, ‘Stree 2’ definitely seems to have an upper hand over both these movies in terms of the buzz, however, one can expect both these movies to pick up if there is positive word of mouth around it.
