They say the only constant thing is change, and in her recent interview, Rita Moreno, the star of ‘One Day At A Time’ has given an example of it while talking about her co-star and comedian George Lopez.
Rita, who is making a guest appearance in the sitcom ‘Lopez vs Lopez,’ earlier worked with George on his series ‘The George Lopez Show’ (2007). The 92-year-old star while talking about George Lopez with People said he has changed quite a bit.
“He’s really eased up,” added Moreno, while sharing that he is now funnier than ever.
“He’s gotten kind of sweet and cuddly. I know it’s hard to think of George as a cuddly person, but I kept constantly leaning on him, and he put his arm around me,” mentioned the star who back in 2007 on the ‘George Lopez Show,’ played the mother of the comedian, and now on the new project ‘Lopez vs Lopez,’ she is playing the spirit of George’s fictional late grandmother – Dolores.
She added that George was never a sweet person, but now he has changed and she has become very fond of him. In her words, since the first time they collaborated, Lopez has become a pretty nice guy. In fact, after taping the sitcom along with Lopez’s daughter and co-star, Mayan, he surprised the entire cast by taking them out to dinner at a “wonderful” Mexican restaurant.
In a previous interview, Moreno also spoke about her character in the show ‘Lopez vs Lopez.’ She used words like “wicked, horrible, nasty, bitchy grandmother” to describe her character.
“I loved why she comes back from the dead. She came back roaring, nasty as always, in that family and demanding respect,” she told NBC News in 2023.
She found the show’s idea fancy and besides comedy, she was able to understand the serious undertone of the relationship shared between her and George in the project. She concluded by saying that she loved the ending of the show but didn’t want to give it away in the interview.
