Ajay Devgn’s latest action-packed blockbuster, ‘Singham Again’, directed by Rohit Shetty, continued to dominate the box office as it entered its ninth day. The film which clashed with Kartik Aaryan‘s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘ over the Diwali weekend, is on course to hit the Rs 200 crore mark this weekend.
According to Sacnilk.com, the film managed to rake in an estimated Rs 11.5 crore on Saturday, a good upward trend from it’s second Friday’s collection of Rs 8 crore. The film which scored a huge Rs 173 crore collection in its first week, now boasts of a total collection estimated at Rs 192.5 crore.
If this trend persists, ‘Singham Again’ is poised to hit the Rs 200 crore mark this Sunday, and become Ajay’s fourth film to hit the Rs 200 crore milestone, joining the ranks of his previous box office successes. The movie is already among the top 5 highest-earning Devgn films of all time. Currently, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ sits at the top of the list with an estimated collection of Rs 277.75 crore, followed by ‘Drishyam 2’ with Rs 239.67 crore and ‘Golmaal Again’ earning Rs 205.69 crore.
As part of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe—alongside hits like ‘Simmba’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’—’Singham Again’ features a special cameo by Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey, sparking speculation that ‘Dabangg’ may join the franchise in future instalments.
Rohit Shetty, opened up about the success of his latest film ‘Singham Again’ and also shared his views on its clash with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. “I am very happy that people are liking this film. The film is running for quite long now. A good revenue is being generated for the theatres. People are going to watch this film…We tried to avoid the clash (with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) but the only issue was that we had the theme of Diwali otherwise we could have released the film anytime. After a week, both the films created a revenue of over Rs 300 crores which is quite rare…,” Rohit told ANI.
Ajay also acknowledged that while they had tried to avoid it, sometimes things don’t go as planned. “We all tried to avoid that clash on Diwali but it didn’t happen. I never want any film to clash at the box office because the industry somehow suffers from that. Given the theme of ‘Singham Again’, we couldn’t have given up on this date for release. But despite the clash, both the films are doing well so it is all good,” Ajay shared.
Both ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ hit the theatres on Diwali and surprisingly the two have been doing exceptionally well at the box office ever since they were released.
