The world is still trying to digest the news of AR Rahman’s divorce from his wife Saira Banu, and amid this one more shocking revelation has come up. A member of AR Rahman’s troupe, bassist Mohini Dey has also announced separation from her husband, composer Mark Hartsuch.
This announcement came through a social media post only a couple of hours after AR Rahaman and Sair Banu shared their decision to part ways.
Mohini Day and March Hartsuch told the world that they were calling it quits with a long social media post. The couple said that their separation is not a one-sided call, but a mutual decision.
“With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed,” wrote the couple.
Though Mohini and Mark have decided to part ways in their personal lives, the couple ensured it will not affect their professional work. They will continue to collaborate on projects, including MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. The only thing they want from their fans is respect for their privacy and a safe distance from judgemental eyes.
“We will still be working on several projects together including MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. We have always prided ourselves on working well together and that will not be stopping any time soon 🙂 The big thing we want to wish is love to everyone out there in the world. We appreciate your support in all of the ways you have given it to us. Please honor the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgements,” they mentioned in the post.
For the unversed, Mohini Day, who is only 29 years old, has worked on 40 shows with Rahman worldwide. In August 2023, he released his debut album solidifying her space in the music world.
