Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been at the centre of controversy in recent months following his arrest on charges including sex trafficking. Amid his legal troubles, reports about his past relationships have resurfaced, including his scandalous affair with Jennifer Lopez, soon after he welcomed his first son with partner Kim Porter.
According to reports, Porter was left ‘devastated’ and ‘disgusted’ when she learnt about Diddy’s affair with JLo, shortly after she had given birth to their son, Christian Combs, in 1998. In an interview with Essence, Porter revealed that she discovered the singer’s infedility through a friend, just weeks before it flashed across tabloids. “A friend called my cell phone. Then a few weeks later, the press hit… Everywhere I went, people were asking, ‘Are you okay?’ I just hated that,” she said.
The affair between Diddy and Lopez began making headlines in 1999, prompting Porter to end their relationship and ask the rapper to leave their home.
In the interview, Porter admitted that she felt ‘disgusted’ by Diddy, who despite going public with his romance with Lopez, would keep contacting her and even show up at her house unannounced, under the pretext of meeting their son. “I had just had a baby. I couldn’t be somewhere in a corner heartbroken. I have kids. I’m a grown woman,” she said and added, “The sight of him would turn my stomach. He was very, very intrusive.”
However, Diddy and JLo’s romance did not last long. According to The Mirror US, Combs reportedly favoured his relationship with Porter, over Lopez. The star reportedly felt “unable to breathe” during his high-profile relationship with JLo that ended in 2001.
Eventually, Kim took Diddy back and the couple resumed their on-and-off relationship until 2007. They also welcomed twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie Combs, in 2006.
Kim Porter, who passed away in 2018.
Following Diddy’s arrest in September, his relationship with Porter was back in the spotlight when the model’s former flame, Al B. Sure! claimed that her death was ‘not from natural causes’ and called for an investigation. “In a nutshell, Kimberly was allegedly taken from us because she was set on course to accomplish what Mrs. Cassie Ventura did by igniting the Bon Fire [sic] which brings us here today,” Al B. Sure! wrote in a post.
However, Porter’s four children slammed the “hurtful and false rumors” about their late mother. In a statement, they wrote, “She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves. Additionally, please understand that any so-called ‘friend’ speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart.”
