‘Pushpa 2,’ this movie has been in the news right from the word go. Even before its release, there was so much anticipation among the fans, owing to which when the movie’s premiere was arranged a day ahead of the official release, fans from different corners flocked to Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The date was December 4, and even the main protagonist the OG Pushpa Allu Arjun was present for the premiere, and that is when things went south. The frenzy of the fans took an ugly turn when the uncontrolled crowd led to the stampede, which resulted in the demise of a woman, and her son was severely injured. Allu Arjun was arrested in the matter on December 13 and on 14 December he was granted interim bail by the High Court. Amid all this, the producer of the movie, Naveen Yerneni of Mythri Movie Makers, has donated a sum of ₹50 lakh to the victim’s family.
The producer addressed the press and spoke about the tragic incident on Monday. He expressed his grief on how the turn of events resulted in something so unfortunate. Further, he offered a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s family, a video of which was shared by trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Further, extending his condolence, Naveen said, “It’s very unfortunate what happened. We’ve felt bad about it since it happened and we couldn’t express our feelings. Revathi’s death is a huge loss to her family. Doctors are doing their best to help the boy recover. We want to support the family.”
Meanwhile, the heat of the matter doesn’t seem to be getting down anytime soon. Amid the legal woes, protesters, who claimed to be the OU JAC (Joint Action Committee of Osmania University students), vandalized Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad residence on Sunday. The actor’s father Aravind, spoke to the press about the incident and said: “The police have taken in the offenders and filed a case against them. The police are ready to take away anyone else who comes here to create a ruckus. No one should encourage incidents like these.”
After this, the security was beefed up around Allu Arjun’s house.
