After the movie was leaked on various platforms, Unni wrote, “Please don’t watch pirated movies. We are helpless. I’m feeling helpless. Only YOU can stop this. By not watching/downloading the films online. It’s a request.” Many of his fans shared supportive comments after his plea. One of his fans wrote, “True …films have to be seen in theatres 👏,” while another commented, “Theatre experience is on a whole other level… Never miss it… 🔥.”
As per a report by Mathrubhumi, the Kochi cyber cell recently apprehended a man for distributing a pirated version of Marco online. The individual, reportedly a BTech student, was found to have shared a link to Unni’s film on his social media accounts.
During initial questioning, the accused denied recording the movie himself in cinemas. However, he admitted to passing along a link that he had received from someone else. His reasoning was that he intended to boost his Instagram reach.
The Telugu version of Marco made its debut in theatres today ( January 1), while the Tamil version is set to release on January 3.
Marco is reportedly gearing up for its OTT debut in multiple languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu. The film is expected to be available on Netflix by the end of January or early February. Since its premiere on December 20, the film has reportedly grossed nearly Rs 38 crores.
