It’s a dark moment for the world of entertainment as the National Film Award-winning actress Anjana Rahman has passed away. Reportedly, the actress who has done around 300 movies in her career breathed her last at the age of 60 at 1:10 am on Saturday. The news of her demise has sent shockwaves and condolences are being poured in from friends, family, and fraternity members.
Reports suggest that the actress was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital. She had been sick for three weeks.
The Film Artistes’ Association president Misha Sawdagor has confirmed the news of Anajana’s passing away to Prothom Alo. He said that in her honor, Anjana’s Namaz-e-janaza would be held at FDC on Saturday afternoon.
According to various media reports, her health started to decline after she suffered a mild fever, which with time only deteriorated her condition to a point where medicines also stopped working.
Upon diagnosis, it came out that the actress had a blood infection. She was then admitted to a private hospital and she spent several days in CCU battling for her life. Unfortunately, no matter how strongly Anjana tried, no matter what treatment she was being given, the improvement in her condition was not as much as expected. Therefore on Wednesday, she was shifted to BSMMU Hospital.
Everyone hoped her condition would get better; everyone prayed for a miracle. However, her condition deteriorated even further and she was put on life support the same night. Despite every measure, she lost the battle and left the mortal plane, leaving behind her memories and the legacy of her work.
She is survived by two daughters and a son. May god bless them with the strength to deal with the challenging times.
