Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor’s jewellery brand is under the scanner after being accused of ‘blatant plagiarism’.
Pieces from her line became a topic of discussion after many noted their strikingly similar to iconic pieces from luxury brands. Social media users and fashion enthusiasts slammed the brand for ripping off designs from popular brands, while others slammed it for selling ‘first copies’ at high prices.
The controversy erupted after Reddit users highlighted similarities between the brand’s offerings and signature pieces from luxury labels. “Next time you sell a product, let’s see how you feel when someone plagiarizes your products for which you spent the money and resources branding and creating value. Intellectual property protection is critical for thriving business and attracting investments in country…” read a comment.
Another trolled the pricetag of a bracelet on the site claiming, “Ye 1st wale ka copy maine elcho market se 200 me lia hai.”
Replying to the post, another said, “Haan… That nail bracelet and the carrier bracelet, both have become extremely common in the market.”
Another seemngly defended the actress’ brand by pointing out that people who could not afford to buy the Cartier bracelet, could buy the one on Shraddha’s site.
Neither Shraddha Kapoor nor representatives of her jewellery brand have issued a statement addressing the allegations.
The actress, who had a successful 2024 with the box office success of her film ‘Stree 2’, announced her jewellery brand last year and also expressed her ambitions to make it a global brand.
While Shraddha has ventured into accessories and jewellery, other actors like Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan have opted to venture into clothing, while Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have started their own beauty brands.
