Bollywood’s glittering stardom isn’t just about the actors but it also shines a spotlight on their trusted bodyguards, whose constant presence fuels endless curiosity. While reports suggest staggering salaries like Rs 2.7 crore for Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard Ravi Singh and Rs 2 crore for Salman Khan’s Shera a celebrity security expert Yusuf Ibrahim has set the record straight, challenging these claims.
Rumors of exorbitant earnings often go viral, but Ibrahim, who has managed security for stars like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, recently debunked them. Speaking with Siddharth Kannan, he explained, “It’s nearly impossible to determine exact earnings for such high-profile roles.”
While the figures cited might seem extraordinary, Ibrahim highlighted that bodyguards of top stars could earn significant amounts, particularly if they have additional ventures. Shera, for instance, owns a security company, which could explain his rumored multi-crore annual income.
On average, most Bollywood bodyguards earn between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh per month. However, for elite bodyguards involved in high-demand assignments like promotions or events, salaries may range from Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh monthly. In some cases, annual earnings of Rs 1–2 crore could be feasible, especially for individuals managing businesses alongside their duties.
For example, Akshay Kumar’s bodyguard, Shreysay Thele, is rumored to earn Rs 1.2 crore annually. While Ibrahim couldn’t verify exact figures, he acknowledged the possibility based on workload and responsibilities.
Beyond their salaries, many bodyguards benefit from additional perks provided by the stars they protect, such as covering medical expenses or education fees for their families. Payment structures often vary based on how actively a celebrity works, whether it’s shoots, promotional events, or public appearances.
Despite the closeness that develops over years, Ibrahim emphasized the strictly professional nature of these relationships. Bodyguards like Ravi Singh and Shera prioritize their job of safeguarding their clients over forming personal connections.
Ibrahim also recalled a standout moment involving Shah Rukh Khan. During a visit to Ajmer Sharif Dargah, chaos erupted as fans swarmed the area, leading to police intervention. Despite the turmoil, Shah Rukh remained calm, leaving a lasting impression on Ibrahim.
While Bollywood bodyguards’ earnings might not always match the rumors, their role remains indispensable in protecting the stars they serve. For many, the job goes beyond monetary compensation, as they navigate a world of fame, chaos, and unwavering dedication.
