Following the massive success of Allu Arjun‘s Pushpa 2: The Rule, all attention shifted to Ram Charan and Shankar’s much-anticipated collaboration, Game Changer, to further solidify Telugu cinema’s dominance. However, as life often proves, the unexpected can happen—and that’s precisely what unfolded with Daaku Maharaj.
Daaku Maharaj tells the gripping story of a fearless robber fighting for survival while carving out his own territory amidst fierce battles with powerful adversaries. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, fondly known as NBK, in the lead role, with Bollywood actor Bobby Deol portraying his formidable nemesis.
Unlike Game Changer, Daaku Mahraj released on Sunday , 12th January and opened to huge box office collection of Rs 22.5 crore as per Sacnilk. In fact even in North America which is considered to be the biggest market for Telugu films outside of India, the film is expected to end its day 1 collection including premiere shows with US $ 1 million collection. Thereby making it the biggest day one collection for the lead actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.
The film received its fair share of negative to mixed reviews from critics but it seems fans haven’t paid much attention to it. The film has been talked about it over the top story line and larger than life screen presence of NBK.
The film recently made headlines for its song Dabidi Dabidi, featuring NBK and Urvashi Rautela. The choreography sparked a buzz on social media, prompting Urvashi to address the criticism on X. She wrote, “It’s ironic how some who’ve achieved nothing feel entitled to criticize those who work tirelessly. Real power lies not in tearing others down but in lifting them up and inspiring greatness.”
