The US President-elect, Donald J. Trump announced that Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight as ‘Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California’, to make Hollywood a much bigger, better and stronger place, just a few days before his inaugural ceremony.
While the duties of the newly appointed ambassadors remain unclear, the President-elect announced on his Truth Social account on Thursday, “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.”
He further wrote, “They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest.

It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!” mentioning the reason behind such a thoughtful decision.
In an interview with Variety, Gibson, who recently lost his residence in the wildfires humourously asked, “Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?” and mentioned that he received the news not so long before the rest knew, “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can.”
Previously, before the elections were contested, all three actors had been vocal about their support to the President-elect, mentioning him as a ‘Second George Washington’. While Gibson spoke about his support for Trump and slammed Kamala Harris’ intelligence, Voight voiced how deeply he admires Trump, in a cover story by Variety.
Hollywood, however, has been experiencing a decline in revenue since 2019, affecting billions of dollars.
