Kangana Ranaut recently shared how an “internal crisis” led her to discover spiritual guru Sadhguru and how his teachings impacted her life. In an interview with The New Indian, Kangana reflected on her success, struggles, and personal journey during a turbulent phase in her career and personal life, particularly between 2016-17.
Kangana admitted that even after achieving success in 2014-15, she felt disillusioned. “Finally, I got success in 2014-15. The jobs were pouring in. Everybody wanted to work with me. When I got that success, I was a bit disillusioned by it because it didn’t feel as good as I anticipated it to be. Because I waited for so long. These people who wanted to work with me, I didn’t want to work with them. Along the way, I had grown mentally out of them, grown mentally out of this industry. I wanted the acceptance of the high and mighty…I was a bit disillusioned because, for 10 years, I had seen their ugly sides,” she shared.
Kangana also opened up about her disillusionment with people she trusted. “My personal equation, people that I invested in, as a friend or as a lover, or in whatever capacity, I was disillusioned by them also in a very big way. I had come to a point by 2016-17 that I didn’t know what to do with myself. I didn’t know where to go. There were these offers, everybody wanted to be with me, even the cases I was winning. But I was just disillusioned to an extent that I didn’t believe in humans anymore,” she revealed.
When asked whether her spiritual journey was influenced by her legal and personal conflict with Hrithik Roshan, Kangana dismissed the idea, saying, “Let me come to it.”
It was during this phase of “internal crisis” that Kangana came across Sadhguru’s book. She began listening to his speeches every morning and found solace in his teachings. The actor also revealed that she decided to spend time in Himachal Pradesh because she “didn’t want to come to Mumbai.”
The actor’s turbulent relationship with Hrithik Roshan made headlines in 2016 when Hrithik filed a case alleging that someone impersonated him to email Kangana. Kangana claimed that the email ID was provided by Hrithik himself and that they had been in communication until 2014.
The conflict escalated when Hrithik sent Kangana a legal notice after she referred to him as a “silly ex.” While Hrithik denied having any relationship with her, he also accused her of sending him hundreds of emails.
The two actors, who previously worked together in Kites (2010) and Krrish 3 (2013), have remained at odds since.
