Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, married since 2001, have two children, Aarav and Nitara. Despite their differing ideologies, including opposing political views, Twinkle recently shared in her Times of India column that she is often blamed for their contrasting perspectives.
Twinkle Khanna wrote, “Sitting for an interview, I am asked, ‘You are a star wife; tell us what it’s like?’ While my first instinct is to bite the reporter’s index finger, I reply, ‘I am not sure that an entity like ‘star wife’ exists, unless, in the way that Manglik women marry trees, because of some Rahu Ketu ka dosh, you end up marrying Sirius or worse, Halley’s Comet.’”
She added, “After 20 years of answering this annoying question, I have an oyster-like attitude to irritants and the ability to craft black pearls of wisdom in response. I’m also often asked about — and blamed for — the difference in our political views. It’s almost like people believe he isn’t my husband but a toddler who will listen to me when I say, ‘Beta ji, please walk on the left side of the road, and I will give you a Frooti.’”
In a past interview with Galatta India, Akshay Kumar discussed the differences between him and Twinkle. He shared that they have contrasting views, with Twinkle leaning left and him leaning right. The only common ground they share is their love for early sleep and waking up early, along with a fondness for playing Rummy or Ludo. Despite these differences, Akshay emphasized that respect and giving each other space are key to their relationship. He believes that even if they don’t share every trait, mutual respect is the most important foundation for a strong bond.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently starring in Sky Force, which marks Veer Pahariya’s debut and also features Sara Ali Khan.
