The big courtroom showdown between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is set for 2026, but fans and the media are already predicting the outcome of this legal battle.
While netizens pick sides between team Blake and team Baldoni, comedian Heather McDonald has confirmed that she is “100% not team Ryan Reynolds“. The star, in a rather candid interview with TMZ, shared that she believes fans are pointing fingers at the wrong person.
Addressed Baldoni’s recent 2am voice memo to Blake, which sparked debate online, the comedian admitted she has gone back and forth on the issue but ultimately defended Baldoni, praising his “sexy ass voice.” According to her, the voice note suggests that the now-warring co-stars once shared a rather friendly dynamic.
Instead of taking a swing at the ‘It Ends With Us’ co-stars, McDonald’s claimed that Ryan Reynolds may have instigated the fallout. She speculated that the Deadpool star could have discovered private messages and other friendly banter between Lively and Baldoni, leading to his involvement in the drama.
“I really do think Ryan was either reading this stuff on the kids’ iPad or something,” she shared. “He was privy to the conversation, and he was on break during COVID, and I think he started to really get involved.”
McDonald further theorized that Reynolds’ alleged ‘jealousy’ may have escalated the situation, especially when the film’s reception did not go as expected. “I don’t think she was really flirting with [Justin], but I think Ryan got jealous and inserted himself. And then, when the movie came out and it wasn’t going their way as far as favorable press, then I think he was like, ‘Screw this guy.'”
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni began when the actress filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and accusing the director of orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit, claiming Lively and Reynolds attempted to take control of the film through intimidation tactics.
Sharing her thoughts on the leaked voice note, Heather shared that she believes the clip could actually work in Baldoni’s favour, portraying Lively and Reynolds as the “bullies that Justin says they are.”
A judge on Monday scheduled the trial for March 9, 2026.
