Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated action thriller Deva is poised to make a strong impact at the box office, as advance bookings for its opening day indicate promising numbers.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Deva has already earned Rs 1.15 crore gross, in advance ticket sales, suggesting a robust start to its theatrical run.
The film reportedly collected an estimated Rs 54.19 lakh from advance ticket sales for its 2D Hindi shows and an additional Rs 60,870 from its ICE format screenings. The total net advance collection for the film currently stands at Rs 54.8 lakh. Including blocked seats, the estimated total for advance bookings rises to Rs 1.15 crore.The film has managed to sell approximately 22,823 tickets across 6,486 shows nationwide. States contributing significantly to the advance sales include Delhi (Rs 18.76 lakh), Gujarat (Rs 14.89 lakh), Maharashtra (Rs 12.82 lakh), Uttar Pradesh (Rs 9.56 lakh), and Karnataka (Rs 7.07 lakh).
In Deva, Shahid plays a brilliant yet defiant police officer, while Pooja Hegde takes on the role of a journalist. Addressing comparisons to his past roles, Kapoor clarified that his character in Deva is entirely distinct from his portrayal in Kabir Singh. “It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very Deva, there is no Kabir Singh in it,” Kapoor said during a promotional event in Delhi.
Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, renowned for Malayalam blockbusters such as Salute and Kayamkulam Kochunni, Deva is described as an “action-packed roller-coaster ride full of thrill and drama.” The film is expected to perform well in key territories and could register a strong opening weekend at the box office.
It will face some competition from the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Sky Force’ which hit the big screen last weekend and is on its way to the Rs 100 crore mark.
